YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
What you probably want to know before you book
I've already done physio, massage, and worn a mouth guard. Why would this be any different? Because those approaches work on the area that hurts, which is often not where the pattern started. Here, we use a body-led assessment to find what the body is actually responding to. That might be a structural imbalance it's been compensating around. It might be a biochemical load that's been draining the body's resources. It might be emotional stress that's been held in the body as chronic physical tension, or a neurological pattern that's become the body's default. Treating the symptom directly gives temporary relief, but the body returns to the same holding pattern once the treatment ends because the underlying driver hasn't been found. When we find it and address it, the shift tends to hold in a way that direct treatment doesn't.
I haven't experienced Kinesiology before. What does a session actually feel like? Gentle, grounding, and nothing like what you might expect. The assessment uses a gentle touch on the arm — to follow your body's own signals. From there the work is guided depending on what's found: it might be hands-on structural support, or work addressing emotional stress the body has been holding as physical tension, or support for the nervous system's stress patterns. Most clients leave feeling physically lighter and noticeably calmer.
I’m already so overwhelmed. Is this going to be "one more thing" I have to do? I hear you. You don't need the right words or a tidy explanation of your symptoms. Your body holds the map — my job is simply to help read it. Think of this as the hour where you finally get to put the load down.
How is this different from a massage or a regular therapy session? Massage works on the muscles directly. Talk therapy works through the mind. Neither looks for the structural, biochemical, emotional, or neurological pattern driving the tension in the first place. Kinesiology and Craniosacral Therapy work with the body's own feedback to find what's underneath so that the benefits of each session has a much better chance of holding, rather than fading within days.
I’m a very logical person. Does this work if I’m skeptical? Absolutely. You don’t need to "believe" in the method for your body to respond to it. This work is based on the feedback loops between your brain and your muscles. Many of my clients are high-achieving, logical women who were skeptical until they felt the physical improvements during or after the session.
I want to move forward with specific goals, not just "fix" a problem. Is this for me? Yes—in fact, that is where the most exciting work happens. We look for where your body is saying "no" to the things your mind is saying "yes" to (or vise versa) and removing the internal brakes so you can move forward with momentum.
Is it normal to feel worse before I feel better? Sometimes, yes. When the body begins to release years of "stored" structural, emotional or neurological stress patterns, there can be a day or two where:
- You might feel deeply tired for a day or two as your nervous system shifts out of "High Alert."
- You might experience a brief "emotional flush" as old or residual feelings move through your system.
- You might feel physical tension as your body learns to hold itself differently.
Think of it like this: If you’ve been carrying a heavy backpack for ten km's, your shoulders might ache a little after you finally put it down and the blood starts flowing again.
Is Kinesiology suitable for everyone? Yes. Kinesiology is gentle, non-invasive, and works across a wide range of physical and stress-related concerns. For this practice, the focus is on:
- Jaw tension, clenching, grinding, and TMJ-related head and neck pain
- Chronic neck and shoulder tension
- Fatigue that doesn't lift despite rest, including chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and burnout
- Migraines and persistent headaches
- The physical toll of long-term stress and anxiety carried in the body
"At a deeper level, it can be used to identify and clear energetics stresses in the body, which are often the causes of physical manifestations of illness." Phillip Rafferty, Kinergetics RESET.
What About Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release? Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body's structural and nervous system to soften deeply held tension patterns. Combined with Kinesiology, it supports the body to integrate what the assessment identifies — particularly useful for jaw tension, neck and shoulder holding patterns, and deep physical fatigue. Together, they address the body across all the layers where patterns can be held: structural, biochemical, emotional, and neurological. Both are non-invasive, and you remain fully clothed throughout.
I'm not sure my situation fits neatly into a category. Can you still help?
This is more common than you'd think. The clients who often get the most from this work are the ones whose symptoms don't fit a clear diagnosis — who have been told there's nothing wrong, or who've been passed between practitioners without a clear picture of where to start. You don't need a tidy explanation of your symptoms to book a session. Book a free 15-minute call and we'll work out together whether this approach is likely to help.
How many sessions will I need?
Because we are working with the unique story your body has carried for years, there is no "one-size-fits-all" number. However, most women find their path follows one of these three stages:
Stage 1: The Initial Shift (1 - 3 Sessions) Most women feel a significant "lightening" of their load. You’ll likely leave feeling physically lighter, improved posture and a general feeling of more ease.
Stage 2: The Core Work (4–8 Sessions) The deeper work happens here. This is where long-held patters are addressed layer by layer. If you are navigating long-term burnout, chronic tension, or deep-seated survival patterns, a series of 3 to 8 sessions allows us to move past the surface symptoms.
Stage 3: Ongoing (Monthly) Once the acute pattern is cleared, many clients transition to monthly sessions. This is proactive maintenance—staying ahead of the load of everyday stress and ensuring your energy is aligned with your life goals.
We move at the pace of your body. Nothing is forced, and you are always in the drivers seat of your healing.
